Mrs. Shirley Faye (Dobbs) Thrasher

Mrs. Shirley Faye Thrasher, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, March 26, 2018, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Thrasher was born August 15, 1936, in Fort Payne, AL, daughter of the late William Arthur and Gertie Alene Hamilton Dobbs.  She was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with the Chattooga County Board of Education.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Thrasher; sister, Waynonna Fox; brothers, LaWayne Dobbs and Hugh Dobbs; great-grandson, Keegan Allen VanPelt; and great-granddaughter, Kendall Shyann VanPelt.

Mrs. Thrasher is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Arlin and Sandy Thrasher; a daughter, Anita Wilson; brother and sisters-in-law, Doyle and Margaret Dobbs, Linda Dobbs, Eloise Norton; sisters, Wanda Chesser Burt and Alene Ingle; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thrasher will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Smith and Rev. Sanford DeBerry officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be T. J. VanPelt, Tyler VanPelt, Timmy Wilson, Hannah Thrasher, Blake Thrasher, and Trey Thrasher.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Four Mile Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thrasher will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
