Mrs. Opal Christine Helton Vaughn, age 85, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday July 20, 2017, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mrs. Vaughn was born February 2, 1932, in Berryton, GA, the daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Smith Helton.  She was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Vaughn.

Survivors include her children, Kenneth and Lynn Vaughn, Michael “Moto” Vaughn; grandchildren, Olin and Rhonda Woody, Stacy Nixon, Kevin and Stacy Vaughn; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Vaughn will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 29, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Chasteen officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Kevin Vaughn, Olin Woody, Josh Vaughn, Jacob Vaughn, Stacy Nixon, and Hunter Woody.  Charlie Crabtree will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Vaughn will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Saturday.
