Mrs. Nellie Emma Owens Black, age 80, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at her residence.
Mrs. Black was born March 27, 1935, in Lyerly, GA, daughter of the late Charles Daniel and Ethyl DeBerry Edwards. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Prospect Church # 1. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Ray Owens.
Mrs. Black is survived by her husband, William C. Black; sons, Dannie Ray Owens and Tony C. Owens; brothers, Lester Edwards, Bobby Edwards, and Joe Edwards; grandchildren, Christy Owens, Brandon Owens, Shawna Whalen, Brianna Owens, and Krista Owens; great-grandchildren, Thomas Cribbs, Joshua Hixon, Madaline Hixon, Christian Whalen, and Embrey Whalen.
Funeral services for Mrs. Black will be held at 7:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Friday, June 26, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sanford DeBerry officiating. Graveside and interment services will be held at 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Johnson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rickey Edwards, John Black, Greg Whalen, Brandon Owens, Larry Crider, and Danny Ray Owens.
Mrs. Black will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends 5:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Friday.
