Mrs. Lorene Marie Cothran, age 90, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Cothran was born April 23, 1927, in Gaylesville, AL, daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Nicholson Smith.  She was a homemaker and was Baptist by faith.  Mrs. Cothran was also a devoted wife and Godmother.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, SSGT Howard W. Cothran; sisters, Elouise Moss and Juanita Smith; brothers, Joe Smith, Sr., Franklin Smith, and Billy Connie Smith.

Mrs. Cothran is survived by her brothers, Robert G. Smith and Booker T. Smith; sisters, Charlotte Silmon and Earnestine Brand; special Goddaughter, Sandra Johnson; and Godson, Troyce Silmon.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cothran will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 18, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop V.T. Harden officiating.  Interment will follow in the Allgood Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be nephews.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.  Nieces will serve as flower bearers.

Mrs. Cothran will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Monday.
