Mrs. Billie Joy Gilbert, age 80, of Rome, GA, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Gilbert was born December 26, 1934, in Terra Haute, IN, daughter of the late Cecil Hunley and Bessie Emogene Steward Hunley.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dickson Hugh Hunley, and her sister, Eva Lemay.

Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her sons, Jack Edward Rooney, William Dickson Rooney, and Brian Joseph Rooney; daughters, Debbie Wilson, Sylvana Jean Anderson-Gish, and Valerie Ann Trueblood; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Gilbert will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
